A new music hall has been designed in Tokyo! The city already boasting numerous national and private theatres for modern and classical music, traditional forms of Japanese drama, symphony orchestras and other musical performances, has promoted an architectural competition won by Kourosh Hajizadeh.

The Iranian architect, who founded its own firm “Hajizadeh & Associates consulting engineers” in 2008, after numerous years in other important studies, has since been one of the most successful emerging architects of the area, winning multiples awards. We might mention the Architect of the Year award, at the Middle East Architect Awards in 2013, and the two 2015 awards, one for the Jordan Tower, Highly Commended at "Middle East Architect Awards 2015" in "Commercial Project of the Year" category, and one for the Tokyo Music Hall, winner at "Middle East Architect Award" in "Public Sector Project of the year" category.

The new Tokyo Music Hall is designed in a very significant area of the city, in the cross point between two of its most important streets, Meiji Dori and Takeshita Street, and on the south corner of the small Park where Tōgō Shrine is located.

Hajizadeh & Associates has designed the new project basing it on a great respect for the local traditions. This regards the shape of the roof which resembles the local traditional architecture, the use of materials, such as wood, and the care for nature and landscape in its carefully studied orientation and link to the garden nearby. Therefore Hajizadeh & Associates considered not only the local typology, but also the local culture of project design and the use of materials.
